Turning Idea into Reality with the Albert Gubay Award

The Albert Gubay Enterprise Award is organized by The Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation. It is named after the famous businessman and philanthropist Albert Gubay, highly recognised for his huge contributions to the UK economy and several charitable causes. The Albert Gubay Award recognises outstanding initiatives or achievements in various segments, particularly those showing interest in business and social impact.

An immigrant student trying to juggle between his studies and the challenge of paying the bills, Sid had the passion, vision, and determination to revolutionise the eyewear industry—but lacked the funds needed to get his idea off the ground. That was when the Albert Gubay Award came out as such an opportunity. Having a store rent-free for two years, along with cash prize money of £5,000, was all Sid needed to make his vision of Specscart a reality. Keeping this opportunity in mind, Sid took it very seriously. He worked night after night, sometimes with his mentors, perfecting the application so it would stand out. His hard work and commitment paid off when he won the Albert Gubay Award in 2017.
