Why do We Need a Varifocal Photograph From You?
Our varifocal lenses are made using Digital RayPath Technology. This technology designs the lens around how light reaches your eyes, rather than using a fixed, one-size-fits-all pattern. The result is a wider usable field of vision and smoother focus as your eyes move between distance, intermediate, and reading areas. Because the lens design is more precise, its position matters more, too.
A photograph helps us align the lenses accurately with your eyes. This allows each viewing area to sit where your eyes naturally look, helping the lenses feel comfortable and clear in everyday use. Taking this extra step helps ensure your varifocal lenses work as intended from the moment you put them on.
Steps TO take the perfect varifocal photograph
You’re standing straight

You’re looking naturally ahead
The camera is at eye level
The photo is taken from the front
Clear and well-lit image
Take a moment to check the photo before sending it. A relaxed, natural photo works best.
What NOT to do:
Don‘t tilt your head or look up/down
Avoid blurry images
Don‘t close your eyes
Don‘t look away from the camera
Email the photo to info@specscart.co.uk, and we’ll let you know if any adjustments are required.
Once we have everything, we’ll use the photo to take the required measurements and customise your varifocal lenses accordingly.

What should I wear in the photo?
If you received a trial frame, wear it. If you haven’t received one, do not wear another pair of glasses.
What if I don’t have a trial frame?
Place a ruler flat on your forehead before taking the photo. This gives us a reliable size reference.
Does the background matter?
Yes, a plain, uncluttered background with good light helps us see the measurements clearly.
What if my photo isn’t clear?
We will let you know and ask for a better photo before we make your lenses.
Can I use a photo from earlier?
Please send a fresh photo taken using the current instructions to ensure accuracy.
What happens after I send my photo and prescription?
Once we have them, we take the measurements and customise your varifocal lenses before production.
What if I’m still unsure how to take the photo?
Just follow the steps carefully or contact us if you need help. We’re here to assist.
Why can’t I wear any other glasses if I don’t have the trial frame?
Wearing other glasses shifts how your eyes sit relative to the frame, making measurements less accurate. So we ask for no glasses and use a reference tool instead.
