"Specscart Varifocals are best-in-class in the industry with maximum user satisfaction and adaptation."
How Do Varifocals Work?
Unlike Single-Vision lenses with the same prescription power in the entire lens, Varifocals have different powers which gradually change from top to bottom (distance to reading) without any unwanted lines or markings on the lenses.
Whether you buy varifocals online or from physical stores, they all have 'soft focus' areas on the outer edges of the lenses, which create slight visual distortion. But our newly designed Varifocal lenses—which are made with Digital Raypath Technology— have the widest field of view and minimum soft focus area.
How Do You Know When You Need Varifocal Glasses?
In most cases, For existing glasses wearers after the age of 40 - You may develop another reading prescription as the eye muscles get weak. You will notice that you'd need a separate pair of reading glasses to focus on small prints or using mobile devices. This is a sign that you may need varifocal glasses which can be confirmed with your optometrist.

Here is what Specscart family says about Varifocal Lenses
My New review with Varifocals - Again fantastic service
So in my previous review I had bought single lense ling distance glasses, which I was so impressed with I ordered top of the range varifocals. Well not quite the full Monty with Zeiss lenses but 1 down from there. What can I say. The service was impeccable, the process was simple to follow, they sent a set of frames for me to try on and take a picture and send it back so that they could ensure that the varifocal lenses were positioned correctly, which was easy to upload, I used my phone then whatsappd myself to load via my PC.
The glasses arrived after 10 days, which was what I expected and I could track their progress all the way alongh. I opened the box with trepedation, wondering how well the glasses would fit, whether the varifocals would be piositioned correctly etc. I put them on and WOW! just perfect, couldn't have been better if I'd gone to my London Opticians and paid twice the price! They are Sooo Good that I haven't taken them off, except to go to bed.
The only addition I have made, which is a personal choice, is buying some clip on sunglasses, so just the lenses to go over the top, as they make it easy. If Specscart.co.uk sold them I would have bought them from here.
I have also convinced my wife to get herself an upto date prescription and use this service. She has noticed how Impressed I am and witnessed the service, quality and value first hand.
I may even order another pair with a different frame as I got these effectively half price, already have them in my basket ready to go.
I have no hesitation in recommending Specscart.co.uk for service, quality and value. Make sure you don't use a poor imitation. There seem to be a few of them out there.
I've worn varifocal glasses for a while...
I've worn varifocal glasses for a while now . However after my latest test I again needed to change prescription I initially looked at a pair in one of the larger well know opticians and for a very bog standard pair of glasses I was looking at approx £450 for 1 pair. I decided to look online and I am so glad I did. I now have a pair of very good quality varifocal glasses with the newest version of transitions lenses for just over £200. They arrived around 10 days after ordering. I would very definitely recommend.
Still providing an excellent service
I bought glasses from this company when they first started and they still provide an excellent service. Their team are very friendly and helpful even if the phone lines sometimes play up. The glasses are very good value and their varifocal are excellent.
I had a trial box for choice...
I had a trial box for choice that arrived promptly with return postage included. Nice, clear and simple to order my favourite lenses. I have a fairly complex varifocal prescription which was no problem and even sent a photo of trial glasses for accuracy.
Love my new glasses and got a good discount.
Perfect. Will be back to get some sunglasses soon :)
Quick, efficient, polite and great quality glasses
I ordered a pair of single vision glasses which looked great, but decided to go for a set of varifocals instead. Original ordering and delivery was super quick, returns were free and I received my new varifocals with 7 working days, even after a bank holiday weekend. Dealing with Specscart customer service (email and calls) to get my prescription and eye measurement to them was quick and efficient and they were always polite and courteous on the phone. Glasses fit and look great and more importantly, the quality of the varifocals (unlike some of my previous varifocal orders of with other companies, which felt like I was looking through a fish bowl) is extremely high.
Outstanding service from start to...
Outstanding service from start to finish. They do exactly what they say they will. Excellent frames too, robust with good build quality. I have been so impressed I now bought two frames both different in style and varifocal too. They look and work a treat. I have also saved around £300 compared to the prices being charged by Specsavers! Well done Specscart!

FAQs About Varifocals
Bifocal vs varifocal – what’s the difference?
Bifocal lenses are old – they have a visible line that separates reading and distance glasses. Varifocals are advanced digital lenses. They’re suitable as your reading, intermediate and distance glasses. There are no visible lines on varifocal lenses offering a smoother transition between different viewing distances.
What are the common issues faced with varifocal glasses?
It takes time to get used to varifocal glasses or progressive lenses. People generally feel difficulty focusing on things. Often they feel dizzy and experience slight headaches initially. But once the eyes get used to new lenses, there’s nothing better than a pair of varifocals for your vision!
What is the Returns policy on Varifocals?
We offer a 60-day no-questions-asked Returns Policy on every pair of varifocals sold at Specscart.
How long will it take to get used to varifocal lenses?
It takes around 14 days to get used to every new pair of glasses. However, in the case of Varifocals, it can take up to 4 weeks. This is because Varifocal or progressive lenses are digital lenses and your eyes take time to understand them. A good way to get used to Varifocals is to point your nose where you have to focus or concentrate. For eg. While driving if you need to look through the rearview mirror, try to turn your head slightly towards the mirror, instead of moving your eyes. Similarly, for reading, try to keep your chin slightly upwards and look through the reading portion of the lenses while reading. At the end of the 4 weeks, you will be a pro at using your new Varifocals. You can also contact our optician for help at +44(0)1613125767.
Do Varifocals come with UV Coating?
All glasses including Varifocals at Specscart come with free anti-glare, anti-UV, anti-scratch, and impact-resistant coatings.
Can I Choose Reactor Lights or Transitions with Varifocals?
Yes, you can customise your Varifocals with a light-adaptive coating in the Lens Coating section by selecting Transition lenses. You can learn about Transitions here. Zeiss users can go with Zeiss PhotoFusion X.
Do you provide Varifocals with rimless glasses?
Yes, we glaze varifocal lenses in all types of frames including rimless frames.
What are the disadvantages of varifocals?
While varifocals are highly convenient for providing clear vision at all distances, some users may experience an adjustment period. This can include minor distortion or blurriness at the edges of the lenses. However, with consistent use, most people quickly adapt and enjoy the seamless transition between different focal lengths. Additionally, modern varifocal lenses are designed to minimize these effects, ensuring a comfortable and effective vision solution.
